7 Easy Steps to Creating and Maintaining Strong Passwords At Work

Written by dev | May 1, 2020 6:05:35 PM

World Password Day is May 7th. This is a great time to review your standards for password creation, storage and management. Of course, we all know that using strong, unique password on all your devices and accounts will prevent unauthorized access. This is often ignored

Did you know that over 85% of all adults reuse their passwords online? On top of that, most people don’t know how to create a truly strong password.

These 7 Steps will help you create a strong password:

  • Minimum of 8 characters
  • A mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character (!@#$%^&)
  • No personal details (pet names, family member names, birth dates, address info, etc.)
  • Ensure default passwords are changed
  • Use Unique and Strong Passwords For All Online Accounts

The average adult has over 100 different accounts online (bank accounts, credit cards, social media, email, apps, etc.). It’s understandably difficult to create and remember a different password for everything you do though.

Now that we’ve covered how to create a strong password, it is important to touch on your process for managing passwords.

What to do about it?
